NAHS Golf Team Plays in State Tournament
2017 - 2018 NAHS Boys Golf Team
We had another amazing season for Boys Golf in 2017.   We returned back to State for the 2nd year in a row and the third time in school history for our sport. There have been 3 Varsity State teams in North Adams History that competed at the State level,  the 1996 Boys Basketball team, 2001 Boys Golf, and now 2016 and 2017 Boys Golf.  Some could argue that this team is the greatest team in North Adams History because of the back to back state appearances.    Remember these names because they should be recognized:   Bryant Lung Senior, Noah Lung Senior, Colt Shumaker Senior and Carson Hall Junior.  These are the only athletes that have competed at the state level two years in a row.

It is such a blessing to see our student athletes achieve such high praise  for the hard work they have put in each day.  This hard work can be seen by the amount of awards that they have received.  All 5 of our seniors have been recognized by the Ohio High School Golf Coaches Association for the all Ohio Academic team.  This Award is achieved by cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and keep in mind that 3 of our seniors with be graduating this year with an associate’s degree and 1 other senior graduating with a certificate in Welding.

The second Award is from the  Boys Golf Southeast District.  There are only 12 available spots to be eligible for the  1st team and 2nd team, and we have 3 golfers that were in the top 8 and  Carson Hall received a Honorable Mention.  Finishing 8th overall and making 2nd team all district is Colt Shumaker, Bryant Lung finished 6th overall and made 1st team all district and Noah Lung finished 3rd overall and made 1st team all district.

The Third Award  is The Ohio High School Athletic Association State Participation award for the State High School Tournament.  Senior Uriah Hall finished 70th , Carson Hall finished 69th , Senior Bryant Lung finished 59th , Senior Colt Shumaker finished 54th and Noah Lung who finished 34th.

Out of 217 Division 3 Teams in the State Of Ohio our boys are currently the 12th best team in the State of Ohio.  To play at State level is such an honor and words can’t say how proud I am of all our boys. Golf is such a sport of integrity.   I received compliments from other schools and coaches that the way we conducted ourselves on and off the course is truly the definition of integrity and ethics.

All of our boys have worked so hard this year and I believe that each one has approved significantly.  I can’t wait until next year and try to make it 3 years in a row to compete at the State level and become a State Finalist once again.
